Community Mobilization and Empowerment
Acres of Mercy seeks to work with the community to see them take greater responsibility and ownership of their present situation.
Our Work with Women
The program seeks to empower women through working with their women groups in the areas of capacity building and bible studies such as Proverbs 31 Woman study series. The vision is "Fighting Poverty, one woman at a time".
So far we have achieved the following:
- Provided entrepreneurial training to 30 women
- Provided free financial advisory services for economic growth both personally and in business
- Provided small business start up capital to at least 10 single mothers in dire need.
Our work with Youth
The youth program in the past has focused on the following areas:
- Sessions on Risks facing Youth and Consequences
- Bible Studies (Spiritual Growth and Development through Bible Studies)
- Understanding Physical Fitness done through Sports and Recreation
- Life Skills (Computer Literacy, Communication Skills, Career Development, Job Skills, Employability)
- Entrepreneurial Skills/ Creativity and Basic Business Skills
- Knowledge and Impact of ICT on Youth (Applications)
- Sexuality and Relationships (Family/ Friendships/Boy-Girl relationships)
- Career Counselling
